Telangiectasia (commonly known as spider veins or thread veins) are small dilated blood vessels near the surface of the skin. While these dilated blood vessels are harmless, if left untreated, these vessels will continue to dilate and become more noticeable. Complete Skin SOlutions has a number of options available for Facial Capillaries & Spider Vein Treatment

THE FACTS

  • Telangiectasia is often found on the face (around the nose, cheeks and chin) or on the legs, especially on the upper thighs.
  • Visible dilated blood vessels have a number of causes which includes environmental and genetic factors, skin type, sun damage and even natural ageing.
  • While Telangiectasia is generally harmless, these visible blood vessels are often considered unsightly and worsen with age.
  • Regardless of the cause of this condition, the visible dilated blood vessels will not heal on their own.

FACIAL CAPILLARIES & SPIDER VEIN TREATMENT SOLUTIONS

There are a number of options available to treat these blood vessels and make them less visible.

Telangiectasia on the upper part of the body are generally arterial in origin and are best treated with light based therapies, such as Photo Rejuvenation with Intense Pulsed Light (IPL).

During Photo Rejuvenation treatments, light pulses are sent into the blood vessel, which impedes the blood flow and eventually breaks down the blood vessel. After several treatments, the affected blood vessel collapses away from the surface of the skin, leaving it smooth and blemish-free.

Telangiectasia on the legs are largely venous in origin. As these small veins are bluish in colour, they do not generally respond well to light base treatment and Sclerotherapy is recommended. Sclerotherapy is a non surgical procedure that involves injecting a solution directly into the vein to collapse and seal off the blood vessel, fading it from view.
